Bertice Ann Thorpe was born in Fort Scott, Kansas to Claudie and Donna Thorpe. She was raised in Norwalk California by her Parents Leon (dad) and Bobbie (mom) Thorpe. She was the eldest of 10 children.
Most people don’t know the lady by Bertice. She always went by Sam. Sam worked for the Jurupa Unified School District in Riverside California for 20+ years. Which is where Sam & Jerry raised their three daughters. She loved horses and all her other fur babies. One of her greatest joys was watching her daughters compete in their horse Competitions or their FFA shows. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, and crafting of any kind. But mostly she loved cooking and baking for all her family and friends. Once retirement settled in for Jerry and her, they relocated to Kannapolis, NC to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Where her grandchildren became the center of her world.
She was proceeded in death by her mother Donna, her father Claudie and her brother Donald.
She is survived by her Husband Jerry Roper of 50+ years and her three daughters, Linda (Leeland) Borba, Amanda (Wayne) Anderson and Katie Roper. Her grandchildren Damion, Savanah, Madalynn, Cody, Colton, Eithan, Weslee, Cory, Mayson, Clayton and Holiann. Her Mom and Dad Bobbi and Leon. Her Siblings Gina (Dennis), Roy (Debbie), Yvonne (Brent), Loel Jr. (Linda), Diane (David), Beth, Shane (Deena), Mark (Vickki). Multiple Nieces and Nephews.
